9th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron Aircraft Losses Aircraft losses, particularly those due to combat action, were extremely significant in a squadron that normally had less then its allocated number of aircraft and whose aircraft were old and worn but extremely well maintained by excellent mechanics that labored long and hard under the most adverse conditions. Even more tragic was the loss of pilots and crewmembers, friends who had suffered the privations and hardships endemic to that part of the world. The following list has been put together from all available sources and probably is only partially complete.
